**Rainfall Alert in Karnataka: Light to Moderate Rain Expected in Bengaluru and Surrounding Districts**
Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that numerous districts in Karnataka, including Bengaluru, will experience light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. A yellow alert has been issued for the state capital and nearby districts on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Cloudy skies are expected throughout the day in Bengaluru, maintaining a generally overcast atmosphere. The city woke up to these conditions at 6:09 AM. Temperatures are forecasted to remain mild, with minimum and maximum values ranging between 21°C and 25°C respectively. The sunset is expected at 6:26 PM.
The weather department noted that the combination of rain and cloudy skies will keep temperatures pleasant and moderate in the city. Humidity levels may hover around 61 percent, contributing to a damp feel in the air, particularly following rainfall.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a seven-day weather report on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Scattered to widespread moderate rain and isolated heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds across the state today. Rain activity is likely to decrease in the remaining days.”
**IMD Advisory**
Residents are advised to take precautions as rainfall can temporarily disrupt electricity supply. Minor traffic snarls and the uprooting of weak tree branches are possible due to strong winds accompanying the storms. The weather department recommends staying indoors and keeping windows and doors closed during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
**About the Southwest Monsoon**
The Southwest Monsoon is a seasonal wind pattern that brings heavy rainfall to South Asia, particularly India, from June to September. It is marked by a reversal in the usual wind direction, with winds shifting from land to sea and sea to land during this period. This change brings moisture-laden winds that result in widespread rainfall critical to the region’s agriculture and water resources.
Stay tuned to official weather updates and stay safe during the monsoon season.
