Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court’s refusal to quash a money laundering case filed against her by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The case is linked to the notorious conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and involves a massive sum of ₹215 crore.

### Background of the Case

The Enforcement Directorate filed the case alleging that Fernandez was involved in money laundering activities connected to Chandrashekhar. The Delhi High Court had dismissed Fernandez’s petition to cancel the FIR, stating on July 3 that only a trial court can decide whether an accused has committed a crime.

In response, Fernandez has now challenged this decision by moving the Supreme Court. A bench comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih is scheduled to hear her petition on Monday, September 22.

### Fernandez’s Defense

Jacqueline Fernandez has strongly denied all allegations, maintaining that they are false. She claims she was unaware of Chandrashekhar’s criminal background.

The ED named her as a co-accused in the money laundering case involving fraud exceeding ₹200 crore. According to the chargesheet filed on August 17, 2022, the ED alleged that Fernandez continued to accept lavish gifts from Chandrashekhar despite knowing about his involvement in criminal activities.

### Additional Allegations by the ED

The Enforcement Directorate also accused Fernandez of failing to verify Chandrashekhar’s claims when searching for him online. Moreover, the agency claimed she deleted data from her phone after his arrest and initially concealed details of her financial transactions with him, only revealing them after being confronted with evidence.

### Current Legal Standing

It is important to note that the court has not made any determination regarding the truth of these allegations. The Delhi High Court’s stance was that these claims do not warrant the cancellation of the case at this stage, leaving the matter to be decided during trial proceedings.

Stay tuned for updates as the Supreme Court hears Jacqueline Fernandez’s petition.
