Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on September 22, 2025. During his visit, he will lay the foundation stones for significant development projects worth over ₹5,100 crore in Itanagar, aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic growth in the region.
### Hydropower Projects to Strengthen Energy Infrastructure
A major highlight of the visit includes the foundation laying for two large hydropower projects: the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW). These initiatives, estimated to cost over ₹3,700 crore, will play a vital role in enhancing the state’s renewable energy capacity.
### State-of-the-Art Convention Centre in Tawang
In addition to the hydropower projects, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Convention Centre in Tawang. Situated at an altitude of over 9,820 feet in the frontier district, this landmark facility will be capable of hosting more than 1,500 delegates. The centre is expected to promote tourism and showcase the cultural richness of the region through national and international conferences.
### Infrastructure Development to Drive Economic Activity
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate key infrastructure projects amounting to over ₹1,290 crore. These projects focus on improving connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and accommodations such as working women’s hostels. As part of his vision to create a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and simplify doing business, PM Modi will engage with local taxpayers and industry representatives to discuss the positive impacts of the recent GST rate rationalization.
### Cultural Preservation and Tourism Boost in Tripura
After concluding his visit to Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi will proceed to Tripura, where he will inaugurate development work at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari. Implemented under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme, the project includes enhancements such as new pathways, renovated entrances, fencing, and improvements to temple premises. This initiative aims to uplift tourism and generate employment opportunities in Tripura.
PM Modi’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development, infrastructure growth, and cultural preservation in Northeast India.
