**Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Record-Low Tariff Achieved in State’s First Solar-plus-Storage Project in Morena**
In a significant milestone for renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh, the state’s first Solar-plus-Storage project being developed in Morena has achieved a record-low tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit. This marks the first project in India where firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) is available at a cost of less than Rs 3 per unit.
The Morena project sets a new benchmark with an impressive 95% annual availability. This is notably higher compared to previous projects across the country, which could only ensure about 50% peak-hour availability and 85% annual availability. By ensuring 95% supply during peak hours, the Morena Solar Park is changing the landscape for renewable energy reliability in India.
The project is being executed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, known for developing prestigious renewable energy initiatives. The electricity generated from this project will be purchased by the state.
Two units are being installed at Morena Solar Park, each with a capacity of 220 MW spread across three phases.
**Competitive Global Bidding Process**
The e-reverse auction for the project was held on Friday, with the bidding process lasting 12 hours. It attracted strong participation from 16 national and international companies, representing almost 10 times the oversubscription of the offered capacity. Prominent participants included Adani Renewables, NTPC Renewables, ReNew Solar, ACME, Engie Energy, Dilip Buildcon, and MB Power.
Unit-1 was awarded to Ceigall India Ltd at a tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit, while Unit-2 went to Acme Solar Holding Ltd at Rs 2.764 per unit.
This project not only demonstrates Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to renewable energy but also sets a new standard for affordable and reliable clean power in India.
