Kirk Cousins made his first appearance of the 2025 season during Sunday’s 30-0 loss to the Panthers. However, that is not a sign that the Falcons are considering a quarterback change.
Head coach Raheem Morris explained in his postgame press conference that he pulled Michael Penix because the game was out of hand. He also emphasized that there are no plans to open up the quarterback position to competition heading into Week 4.
Penix finished the game completing 18 of 36 passes for 172 yards and two interceptions. Cousins entered the game later, completing 5 of 7 passes for 29 yards.
Looking ahead, the Falcons will host the Commanders next Sunday.
