Alia Bhatt faces backlash for calling Alpha her ‘first action film’; netizens question if she ‘forgot’ Jigra

**Alia Bhatt Steps into YRF Spy Universe with Female-Led Action Film ‘Alpha’**

Actor Alia Bhatt is set to make a significant mark in the Yash Raj Films (YRF) Spy Universe with her upcoming female-led action film, *Alpha*. Recently, Alia described *Alpha* as her first action film, a statement that quickly sparked widespread chatter and debate online.

On Tuesday, during the Gucci Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Show at Milan Fashion Week 2025, where she appeared as the luxury brand’s global ambassador, Alia caught everyone’s attention. She donned a striking chevron-patterned shearling long coat layered over a lace and satin slip dress, making a bold fashion statement.

It was at this event, while speaking on the sidelines, that Alia referred to *Alpha* as her first venture into action cinema. She expressed her enthusiasm for the project, hinting at the thrilling experience audiences can expect from her role. Alia said, “Wow, it’s pretty close. That’s a big one for me because it’s my first venture into action and I’m really curious to see how the audience connects with that.”

However, her comment sparked immediate reactions on social media, with many fans and followers pointing out that Alia has previously performed action sequences in films like *Jigra* and *Heart of Stone*. On Reddit, one user remarked: “So, Alia Bhatt doesn’t consider *Jigra* and *Heart of Stone* as action films.”

Other comments were more critical. One read, “It was an action film, Alia. And both tanked bad.” Another sarcastically said, “Alia has deleted *Shaandaar*, *Sadak*, *Kalank*, *Jigra* and *Heart of Stone* from her filmography.”

This led to passionate debates between fans and critics alike. Some argued that *Jigra* had minimal action elements, with one user writing, “*Jigra* was not an action film though. It hardly had one action block. *Alpha* would probably be the first full action film.” On the other hand, some pointed out that if even one or two action sequences qualify a film as an action genre, many older Indian romantic films could also fall under the label.

*Alpha* marks Alia Bhatt’s entry into YRF’s Spy Universe and is directed by Shiv Rawail. The film also stars Sharvari and Bobby Deol and is scheduled to release this December.

In addition to *Alpha*, Alia is working on *Love & War*, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, featuring co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
