Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Launches on December 8 for PS5

Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Asobo Studio have announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will launch for the PlayStation 5 on December 8. PlayStation VR2 support will be added in a free update scheduled for 2026.

The Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise has delighted pilots and simmers for over four decades. The team is incredibly proud to bring this amazing experience to PlayStation for the first time with the launch on December 8 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the world’s most advanced consumer flight simulator, offering an unprecedented level of realism and authenticity. Featuring up to 125 highly detailed aircraft, this installment boasts the largest and most diverse fleet ever assembled for a flight simulator.
Immersive PlayStation 5 Features
To make the PlayStation experience truly shine, the developers embraced the immersive features of the DualSense wireless controller. Adaptive triggers respond to different speeds and surface types on the ground, providing sloped resistance in the air. Communications from air traffic control (ATC) play through the controller speaker, simulating the feel of a real cockpit. Additional features include gyro controls, lightbar support, and a customizable touchpad to further enhance immersion during flight.
Players can explore all seven continents in stunning detail, flying solo or with friends from around the world. The game also supports accurate, real-time, real-world air traffic.
Upcoming PlayStation VR2 Support
PS VR2 owners will be able to experience the entire game through their headset and Sense controllers with a free update planned for 2026, elevating the immersive experience to new heights.
New Features and Gameplay
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 introduces an all-new career system designed to help new pilots learn how to fly the diverse range of aircraft. Virtual pilots will have access to a nearly unlimited number of missions and activities worldwide.
In addition to career missions, PlayStation 5 players can test their skills with various landing challenges, rally races, and more. They can also compete against others in the new Challenge League.
For those seeking relaxation, players can take soothing flights to explore and photograph famous locations or landmarks, and even search for exotic animals around the globe.
Breaking the Sound Barrier
Coinciding with the PS5 launch, players will for the first time be able to break the sound barrier in America’s first civil supersonic jet, the Boom Supersonics demonstrator XB-1.
Ongoing Support and Marketplace
Developed by Asobo Studio in partnership with Microsoft Game Studios, the PlayStation 5 version will continue receiving updates including free World Updates and Sim Updates.
Additionally, the simulator features a robust marketplace filled with new aircraft, airports, and other content to expand the experience.
