Indian women’s team pacer Arundhati Reddy recently shared a harrowing experience she faced during India’s first warm-up match against England on September 25, ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup.

### Injury Details and Immediate Aftermath

Reddy was unable to put any weight on her injured leg, and a wheelchair was brought in to assist her off the field for treatment. The incident raised concerns about her ability to participate in the tournament. However, demonstrating incredible resilience, Reddy made a remarkable comeback in India’s subsequent match against New Zealand. She impressed by taking two wickets and played a key role in India’s four-wicket (DLS) victory.

### Road to Recovery

After the match held at Bengaluru’s BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground, teammate Harleen Deol asked Reddy how she managed to recover so quickly, especially after being seen in a wheelchair.

Reddy responded candidly:
“Initially, it was scary for me as well because at that time it was quite a big impact, so I was really scared to even get up. But I would really like to thank the medical staff and the team because they really did a good job.”

### Upcoming Match and Historical Context

India is set to commence their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on September 30 at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The country has previously hosted the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 1978, 1997, and 2013 but has yet to win the tournament. India’s best performance on home soil came in 1997, when they reached the semifinals before falling to Australia in New Delhi.
