**Surge in Solar Rooftop Adoption in Western Madhya Pradesh under PM Surya Ghar Scheme**
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The government’s ongoing **Seva Parv** campaign has seen a remarkable rise in participation across Western Madhya Pradesh, with over 42,000 households and establishments now connected to solar rooftop systems through the **PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana**.
In just the past fortnight, more than 1,000 consumers across the Malwa-Nimar region have installed rooftop solar units. Since the scheme’s launch last year, over 24,000 consumers in the region have benefited from subsidies totaling Rs 180 crore for setting up rooftop solar panels.
Energy Minister **Pradyumna Singh Tomar** praised the increasing adoption of solar power, highlighting the scheme’s positive impacts on environmental protection, household savings, and energy self-reliance.
Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company Managing Director **Anup Kumar Singh** shared that during the Seva Parv campaign, extensive awareness drives were conducted across 15 districts. These information campaigns involved elected representatives and included audio-visual publicity through vehicles to ensure that the scheme’s benefits reached even the most remote areas.
Singh further stated that by the last week of September, the total net metering capacity of rooftop solar systems in the Malwa-Nimar belt had surpassed 300 MW. The scheme provides subsidies of up to Rs 78,000 per consumer, encouraging households to generate their own electricity and reduce dependency on conventional power sources.
### Indore Leads the Way
Indore city has emerged as the frontrunner in rooftop solar adoption, with over 21,500 consumers installing solar systems. The city alone contributes nearly 125 MW of solar power capacity through the rooftop net metering program, setting a strong example for neighboring regions.
With rising awareness and government support, Western Madhya Pradesh is well on its way to becoming a significant hub for clean and sustainable energy.
