**Mumbai: Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Move Bombay High Court Seeking Suspension of Look Out Circular**
Actor Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband Raj Kundra, who are accused in a fraud and cheating case, have approached the Bombay High Court seeking suspension of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them. The suspension is sought to facilitate their travel abroad.
**Court Directs Affidavits**
A bench comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad, on Monday, directed the authorities concerned to file their reply affidavits in the matter.
**Allegations in Complaint**
The complaint was lodged by one Deepak Kothari, who alleged that between 2015 and 2023, the couple induced him to invest Rs 60 crore in their company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. However, according to the complaint, the invested amount was allegedly used for the couple’s personal benefits.
**Context of LOC Issuance**
As per the plea, Raj Kundra has appeared before the city police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for questioning in connection with the case. However, Shilpa Shetty has not yet been summoned by the investigating agency.
Following a request from the EOW, the LOC was issued against both Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra.
**Claims Made in Petition**
The petition filed by the couple states that Shilpa Shetty had resigned from the company as early as September 2016. It further adds that Raj Kundra is a businessman who frequently needs to travel abroad, while Shilpa Shetty, being an actor, has to travel for her professional commitments.
The petition emphasized, “The applicants have a fundamental right to carry on their business and/or profession and denying such opportunities would amount to violation of their fundamental rights.”
**Duration Requested for LOC Suspension**
The couple has requested the suspension of the LOC from October 2024 through January 2026.
