**Bangladesh’s ODI Squad for Afghanistan Series Announced**
*By Rajdeep Saha | October 4, 2025*
Bangladesh has officially announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi. The squad features some notable inclusions and recalls, reflecting the team’s strategy and current form.
**Key Inclusions: Saif Hassan and Nurul Hasan**
One of the highlights is the inclusion of batter Saif Hassan, who has been called up for the first time in the ODI format. Saif has been consistently impressive in domestic List-A competitions, earning him this maiden opportunity. He recently made a strong comeback to the T20I squad during the series against the Netherlands in August. Saif particularly stood out in the Asia Cup, scoring crucial innings of 61 and 69 in the Super Four matches against Sri Lanka and India respectively.
Nurul Hasan has also been recalled to the ODI squad after a two-year gap. Known for his reliable performances behind the stumps and with the bat, Nurul made a significant impact in the first T20I against Afghanistan, scoring a match-winning 23 not out off 13 balls.
**Players Dropped and Injuries**
The selectors have decided to drop Parvez Hossain Emon, who was part of the ODI squad in the previous series against Afghanistan in July. Additionally, experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has missed out on the squad due to ongoing recovery from a side strain he sustained during the Asia Cup.
**Visa Issues Affecting Player Travel**
Unfortunately, a couple of Bangladesh players are currently facing visa complications that have impacted their ability to travel for the ongoing series. Mohammad Naim, who was named in the ODI squad, remains in Dhaka as his UAE visa has not yet been processed. Similarly, Soumya Sarkar, part of the T20I squad for the ongoing matches, has also been unable to travel to Sharjah due to similar visa delays.
