Bangladesh has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi. The selection features some notable inclusions and changes as the team prepares to take on their Asian rivals.
**Key Inclusions: Saif Hassan and Nurul Hasan**
One of the highlights of the announcement is the inclusion of batter Saif Hassan, who has been called up to the ODI squad for the first time. Saif has been in fine form domestically, consistently impressing in List-A competitions. His recent performances in the T20I format have also caught the selectors’ attention. He returned to the T20I squad for the series against the Netherlands in August and showcased his potential. Notably, during the Asia Cup, Saif scored vital knocks of 61 and 69 in the Super Four stage against Sri Lanka and India, respectively.
Nurul Hasan also makes a return to the ODI squad after a two-year gap. Known for his dependability behind the stumps and with the bat, Nurul made a significant impact recently with a match-winning 23 not out off just 13 balls in the first T20I against Afghanistan.
**Squad Changes and Player Fitness**
The selectors have made some tough calls, dropping Parvez Hossain Emon, who had been part of the ODI squad that played Afghanistan back in July. Additionally, established batter Litton Das has missed out on selection due to his ongoing recovery from a side strain sustained during the Asia Cup.
**Visa Issues Impacting Player Availability**
The team has faced some logistical challenges ahead of the series. Mohammad Naim, despite being named in the ODI squad, remains in Dhaka due to pending UAE visa clearance. Similarly, Soumya Sarkar, who is part of the T20I squad for the ongoing series, has been unable to travel to Sharjah due to similar visa complications.
