Hamas attempted to arrest members of the al-Mujaida clan, alleging they had been collaborating with Israel. According to Hamas statements, social media footage, and Palestinian reports on Friday, the terror group tried to carry out an attack on one of the largest families in Gaza’s southern region.
The operation involved arrests targeting individuals accused of working with Israel. During the exchange of fire, around 11 Hamas operatives were killed, and their bodies were reportedly dragged through the streets, as reported by BBC News. At least five members of the al-Mujaida clan were also killed in the confrontation.
Reports indicated that Hamas raided civilian homes armed with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) during morning prayers. Hussam al-Astal, a leader of the clan, told Israeli broadcaster KAN that he believes the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) assisted the al-Mujaida family by striking 22 Hamas terrorists.

Earlier on the same day, the IDF announced that its soldiers had killed 20 Hamas terrorists attempting to raid a humanitarian area in Khan Yunis, where Gazan civilians were gathered. The IDF stated that its aircraft targeted and struck several operatives who were trying to use children in the humanitarian zone as human shields.
Following the exchange of fire, injuries were reported on both sides, and all wounded individuals were taken to Al-Nasser Hospital in Gaza. While at the hospital, two Hamas terrorists reportedly lured two members of the al-Mujaida clan to a different section and attempted to kill them. One clan member was killed in this incident.
Additionally, according to KAN, six members of the al-Mujaida clan are currently being held by Hamas and may face execution in the near future.
