Veteran Bollywood actor Pankaj Kapur recently opened up about his career and personal life in an interview with SMTV. The actor revealed that while he feels “99.9% content” with his work, there is a slight dissatisfaction as he was not often offered lead roles like some mainstream stars. Despite this, Kapur describes his life as a “good, middle-class life” in Mumbai.
**Career Reflection: A Humble Life in Cinema**
Pankaj Kapur candidly shared, “I lead a good, middle-class life in Bombay. I am a humble actor, not a star. I am so grateful for the abilities that I have been bestowed with. They have helped me lead a respectable life.”
He also acknowledged that he doesn’t earn as much as some of his contemporaries. However, his selective approach to choosing roles meant he never took on more projects than he could handle, maintaining a balance between work and personal fulfillment.
**Contentment Beyond Materialism**
Talking about material desires, Kapur said, “I never wanted what others wanted. All I wanted was to be able to act, and that I did. I never wanted six cars and 12 houses. I have enough.”
He further explained his attitude toward work and money: “I have gone with the flow. Not to say that I have been foolish and turned down work when I needed the money, because I have done work for money as well.”
**A Career Supported by Family and Marked by Iconic Roles**
Reflecting on his journey, Kapur credited much of his success to the unwavering support of his father, who encouraged him when he dreamed of becoming an actor in Mumbai.
His illustrious filmography boasts critically acclaimed films such as *Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro*, *Ek Doctor Ki Maut*, *Maqbool*, and *Raakh*. On the small screen, he is also remembered for his memorable roles in iconic TV shows like *Office Office* and *Karamchand*.
Through his humble approach and dedication to his craft, Pankaj Kapur continues to be a respected figure in Indian cinema, embodying the true spirit of a devoted actor rather than a typical star.
