Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn has announced a massive investment of ₹15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, a move expected to generate up to 14,000 new jobs in the state. The announcement was made by Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister TRB Rajaa via social media, highlighting it as the largest investment commitment ever for the state.
### Dedicated Foxconn Desk to Streamline Investment
In a bid to support this significant investment, the Tamil Nadu government’s investment promotion agency, Guidance Tamil Nadu, will establish India’s first-ever dedicated Foxconn Desk. This initiative is designed to streamline coordination between the investor and the government, ensuring smooth project execution.
The dedicated desk aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader efforts to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) and strengthen its industrial sector.
### Strategic Growth Plans for Tamil Nadu
Foxconn’s future plans in Tamil Nadu go beyond manufacturing. The company aims to integrate value-added manufacturing processes with research and development (R&D) activities and incorporate artificial intelligence (AI)-led advanced technology operations.
Foxconn India Chairman Robert Wu recently met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, reaffirming the company’s confidence in the state as a preferred investment destination.
### Tamil Nadu’s Vision as a Global Manufacturing Hub
The state government reiterated its commitment to positioning Tamil Nadu as a global hub for high-value manufacturing, exports, and engineering innovation. Robert Wu expressed confidence in Tamil Nadu’s governance, industrial policies, and abundant talent pool.
He emphasized that the state’s infrastructure readiness combined with ongoing ease of doing business reforms make Tamil Nadu an ideal location for Foxconn’s next phase of growth in India.
