Capcom Cup 12’s pay-per-view format is under review following backlash

Capcom found itself in hot water at Tokyo Game Show 2025 after announcing that Capcom Cup 12 and Street Fighter League: World Championship 2025—two upcoming Street Fighter 6 tournaments—will use a pay-per-view system. This announcement sparked a strong backlash from fans.

In response to the negative feedback, Capcom has stated that it is now reviewing this pay-per-view model, signaling a potential change of course.

The update was shared in a post on X, where Capcom primarily promoted a lottery system that fans can participate in to buy tickets to attend Capcom Cup 12 in person. The post also referenced the recent announcement of the pay-per-view system for at-home viewers, acknowledging the backlash it received.

“At Tokyo Game Show on September 28th, we announced the introduction of pay-per-view live streaming for both events. We are reviewing pricing and related details,” the post reads. “Updated information regarding the PPV broadcast, including final pricing and additional context, will be shared later this month.”

Fans can expect more details from Capcom soon as the company reassesses the pay-per-view approach for these major Street Fighter 6 tournaments.
