Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are mourning the loss of their late bandmate, Ace Frehley. The members of KISS shared a heartfelt message following the death of the group’s lead guitarist, who passed away at the age of 74.
“I am devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley,” Simmons and Stanley—who played bass and sang lead vocals in the band, respectively—said in a joint statement to The Hollywood Reporter on October 16.
“He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history.”
The duo, along with Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, originally formed KISS in 1973. They emphasized that the late musician will “always be a part of KISS’s legacy.”
Closing their message, Simmons and Stanley extended their condolences to Frehley’s daughter, Monique Frehley, and her mother, Ace’s ex, Jeanette Trerotola.
“My thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique, and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world,” they added.
