This year marks a major milestone for Twitch’s annual convention, TwitchCon, as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. To kick off the event in a big way, the streaming giant hosted a keynote featuring several company leaders, including CEO Dan Clancy.
During the keynote, Clancy unveiled exciting new features coming soon to Twitch. One of the highlights is the introduction of dual-format streaming and an option to stream directly from Meta’s line of AI glasses. This innovation aims to make it easier for viewers to catch streams whether they’re at home or on the go via the Twitch mobile app.
Twitch plans to roll out this feature soon, with beta testing set to begin next week. The integration with Meta’s AI glasses will allow streamers to go live anytime, provided they have a strong internet connection. Support for these AI glasses will be incorporated into the Twitch mobile app in the coming months, opening up new streaming possibilities.
In addition to hardware integration, Twitch is diving deeper into the world of AI to expand how users can connect with their audiences.
Other noteworthy announcements from TwitchCon include improvements to sponsorship processes, making it easier for streamers to gain sponsorship deals. Additionally, medium-sized streamers will soon be able to run their own promotions, providing more control over their growth and engagement.
Twitch also announced updates to its community guidelines. These changes aim to ensure that minor offenses do not result in a user losing access to the platform entirely, promoting a fairer and more balanced approach to moderation.
Furthermore, Twitch has introduced new moderation roles to empower streamers. Streamers can now assign Lead Moderator roles, who have the authority to add or remove other moderators at any time. Another new role, called Agent, grants selected individuals access to a streamer’s analytics and financial information, helping with channel management and growth.
With these innovations and enhancements, TwitchCon 10 is setting the stage for an exciting year ahead for both streamers and viewers alike. Stay tuned for more updates as these features roll out in the near future.
