Granada’s western region experienced a Friday afternoon marked by a brief yet intense downpour. A storm descended heavily on the municipality of Íllora in less than an hour, leaving up to 60 liters per square meter and triggering a yellow warning from Aemet (National Meteorological Agency).
The heavy rainfall caused at least fifteen incidents, according to 112 Andalucía, mainly due to flooding in homes, garages, and streets that were completely submerged. Several residents faced flooding in their homes and businesses, forcing them to act quickly to prevent further damage.
Crews from the Granada Fire Department and municipal workers responded promptly to the area to pump out water and clear mud from the roads. The downpour also disrupted traffic on several roads.
The A-336, which connects Íllora with Pinos Puente, and the GR-4403, leading to Puerto Lope, were temporarily closed due to accumulated water.
In addition, emergency services warned of problems in other affected areas, urging residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
