27k-Kilometer 2001 Audi RS4 Avant

This 2001 Audi RS4 Avant is a right-hand-drive wagon specially produced for the Australian market. It has accumulated just 27,000 kilometers (~17,000 miles) and is claimed to have had three owners since it was sold new through Audi Solitaire in South Australia.

Finished in striking Ebony Black Pearl over light gray leather, this RS4 Avant is powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine. It is paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and features Audi’s renowned Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The equipment on this model includes a power sunroof, xenon headlights, fog lights, and 18” nine-spoke alloy wheels mounted with 255/35 Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tires. Inside, the cabin boasts automatic climate control, a CD/cassette stereo, carbon-fiber trim accents, and heated, power-adjustable front Recaro bucket seats upholstered in light gray leather. Additional amenities include cruise control, aluminum roof rails, mirror caps, and a microsuede-wrapped steering wheel.

This RS4 Avant was purchased by the current seller in 2020. A comprehensive timing belt service was recently completed in August 2025, which included replacement of the water pump, thermostat, front crankshaft seal, fuel filter, air filter, engine oil, and spark plugs. The battery was also replaced shortly after. Other maintenance performed in August 2025 includes replacement of the transaxle oil cooler line O-rings, brake system fluid flush, air conditioning system recharge, and cabin air filter replacement.

Built by quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm, Germany, the RS4 Avant features widened wheel arches and revised bumpers, grilles, and side skirts that distinguish it from contemporary A4 and S4 models. This particular example is believed to have left the factory finished in special-order Ebony Black Pearl (Z9W) and has protective film applied to portions of the exterior for added preservation.

The RS4’s suspension is lower and stiffer than that of the standard S4, with the track being 51mm wider at the front and 40mm wider at the rear. Braking is managed by four-wheel anti-lock discs, ensuring confident stopping power. Twin exhaust outlets complete the sporty exterior design.

Notable details include a tilting and sliding sunroof, aluminum roof rails and mirror caps, and a digital odometer reading 27,000 kilometers (~17,000 miles), with approximately 10,000 kilometers added under the current ownership. The cargo area features a retractable cover and a removable net for versatility.

Under the hood, the RS4’s 30-valve 2.7-liter V6 was developed by Cosworth Technology and equipped with twin BorgWarner K04 turbochargers and upgraded internals. It was factory rated at 375 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque, delivering impressive performance for its era.

The Quattro all-wheel-drive system includes a Torsen center differential, distributing power to all four wheels via the six-speed manual transaxle for exceptional handling and traction.

Documentation accompanying the car includes manufacturer’s literature, service records dating back to 2018, a CarVertical report, and Australian registration papers. The CarVertical report highlights a registered repair from 2016 involving the right side of the vehicle, as well as noted damage to the rear bumper and right-front door in June 2019.

An Australian approval plaque is riveted to the right-front strut tower, alongside a second plaque indicating a “Built Date” of 09/00. The vehicle is being sold on its current registration, which serves as the ownership document in Western Australia.

This 2001 Audi RS4 Avant represents a rare opportunity to own an iconic and highly desirable performance wagon, uniquely specified for the Australian market with low kilometers and a well-documented history. It is now offered for sale in Perth, Western Australia.
