Tonight, on The Stevetendo Show, we’re taking a little break from Mario Kart World and replacing it with another Super Mario game. While I have played Super Mario Galaxy on the show in the past, I haven’t yet played its sequel. Well, that changes tonight as we kick off a Super Mario Galaxy 2 playthrough!
I remember loving Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii, and I really liked Super Mario Galaxy 2 as well — though I don’t recall ever beating it. The first Mario Galaxy brought Mario into space and introduced 3D platforming that wasn’t confined by gravity. The sequel expanded on that formula, added exciting new power-ups, and even launched our favorite green dinosaur, Yoshi, into space too.
Both Mario Galaxy games received a similar treatment to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for their arrival on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Their controls were modified so players can enjoy the games without relying on motion controls — a feature some gamers dislike.
The playthrough will go live at 6 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. EDT. Join The Stevetendo Show for the start of our Super Mario Galaxy 2 adventure! Shackers who want to join in on the fun can head over to the Shacknews Twitch channel, where you can catch The Stevetendo Show every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
If you can’t make tonight’s stream, don’t worry. You can tune in Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT.
This week’s show lineup will look a little different. I’ve moved the Shacker’s Choice night to Tuesday, where I’ll be playing Crow Country for the very first time. Additionally, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will kick off on Wednesday night.
Looking ahead, the plan is to bring Donkey Kong Banananza back to The Stevetendo Show next week — so stay tuned!
