Rivian (RIVN) to lay off more than 600 workers

The electric vehicle (EV) business is facing a challenging period due to new policies from the Trump Administration that have removed incentives for new EV buyers. These changes are expected to significantly impact the industry.

One of the biggest names in the EV sector is preparing to conduct a large round of layoffs. According to reports, at least 600 employees—approximately four percent of the company’s workforce—will be affected. Employees are expected to receive more information about the layoffs today.

These workforce reductions come shortly after the government eliminated a key tax credit for EV buyers through legislation introduced by the Trump Administration. Interestingly, this policy change coincided with rival Tesla setting a record for vehicle deliveries, as many buyers rushed to secure their EV tax credits before the deadline expired.

The recent developments highlight the uncertainty the EV industry is currently navigating amid shifting government policies.
