NBA star gambling suspect Terry Rozier’s previous legal woes involve bikini-model baby mama

NBA veteran Terry Rozier, widely known by his nickname “Scary Terry,” has faced significant challenges both on the basketball court and in the courtroom. The Miami Heat guard, currently in the final year of his $96 million-plus contract with the Charlotte Hornets, was embroiled in a bruising paternity suit filed by Polish bikini model Monika Jawdynska in 2019.

The suit, first reported by the Daily Mail, accused Rozier of being a callous deadbeat dad several years before his arrest last Thursday in a sprawling Mafia-linked federal sports betting and gambling probe. Jawdynska demanded child support for their daughter, who was born that same year.

“A millionaire athlete or movie star should not be treated differently than anyone else,” Jawdynska’s filing from Miami-Dade County asserted. “If anything, it only supports his reckless behavior,” she added, attempting to hold Rozier accountable.

Jawdynska, known for posting scantily clad photos promoting her lingerie line on Instagram, lamented Rozier’s absence in their daughter’s life. According to the filing, “The Father was not present at her birth nor had any desire to be present. He has not seen or visited his daughter (even when he travels to Miami). The Mother attempts to get the Father involved in the baby’s life, but he doesn’t even ask for her pictures. The mother sends them unsolicited.”

Rozier, 31, who has earned approximately $160 million over his NBA career, admitted that a DNA test confirmed his paternity. He also maintained that he voluntarily paid child support.

The legal drama concluded in September 2020 when Rozier and Jawdynska reached an undisclosed settlement, according to court documents. Since then, Jawdynska has shared photos depicting Rozier with their now 7-year-old daughter, who is active in gymnastics.

In addition to the paternity suit, Rozier was involved in a 2022 Florida lawsuit concerning a failed $6,000 sports memorabilia transaction. The outcome of that case remains unclear.

As Rozier navigates ongoing legal troubles, fans and observers continue to watch how these off-court issues may impact his professional career.
