Customized 1999 BMW R1100S at No Reserve

This 1999 BMW R1100S, having spent time in Massachusetts, was acquired by the current seller in 2021 and has undergone significant modifications within the last year.

The build involved removing the fairing and modifying both the two-up seat and rear subframe. The handlebars were raised, and the foot pegs were lowered to enhance rider comfort and control. The stock fuel tank was replaced with one sourced from an R1100R model, which was refreshed with a new filter, lines, and stainless-steel CPC quick-disconnects. It was then finished in a metallic black base coat topped with a 2k satin clear coat before installation.

Additional upgrades include the installation of aftermarket instrumentation featuring a 120-mph speedometer and an 8,000-rpm tachometer, an LED headlight, and an aftermarket taillight assembly. Carbon-fiber front and rear fenders add a sleek, lightweight touch, while the lowered foot pegs and both center and side stands improve practicality.

The bike rolls on refinished five-double-spoke 17″ wheels painted black and fitted with 120/70 front and 170/60 rear Shinko Trail Master tires. Suspension duties are handled by the BMW Telelever front end paired with a Paralever single-sided swingarm housing a monoshock. Stopping power comes from dual front disc brakes with drilled rotors and four-piston Brembo calipers up front, complemented by a single rear disc brake with a drilled rotor and two-piston caliper. It is important to note that the anti-lock braking system (ABS) has been removed.

The raised individual handlebars also feature heated hand grips and a single left-side bar-end mirror. The upper fork yoke has been drilled to accommodate a row of five warning lamps for added visibility and safety.

Under the hood, the R1100S is powered by a 1,085cc opposed-twin engine equipped with Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, magnesium alternator and valve covers, and oil-cooled cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder. A customized dual-outlet exhaust system with Ztechnik Performance titanium under-tail mufflers delivers a distinctive sound and improved exhaust flow. The bike now breathes through pleated pod-style air filters.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. The dry clutch has been upgraded with a Euro Moto Electrics extended-spline clutch friction plate, enhancing clutch performance and durability.

Maintenance-wise, the battery and fluids were replaced in 2025 to keep the motorcycle in top running condition. The digital odometer currently reads zero miles due to the aftermarket instrumentation, but the removed factory odometer shows under 15,000 miles.

Finished in black with a blend of modern enhancements and classic BMW engineering, this highly modified R1100S is offered at no reserve. It comes with a muffler repacking kit, photos documenting the modifications, and a clean Vermont title in the seller’s name.

This bike represents a unique opportunity to own a distinctive, custom-built BMW boxer that combines performance, style, and character.
