Kamala Harris has not yet decided on a future White House run, but a recent interview suggests she’s open to the idea. The former vice president previously ruled out a 2026 run for governor of California.
Speaking with British journalist Laura Kuenssberg, Harris expressed confidence that her grandnieces will witness the first female president “in their lifetime, for sure.” When asked if that president would be her, she responded, “Possibly.”
Harris also addressed Polymarket’s betting odds, which place her behind wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson—who has not committed to a 2028 presidential run. “If I listened to polls, I would have not run for my first office, or my second office,” Harris said, “and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here.”
In a recent Democratic primary poll for 2028, Harris leads notable candidates such as Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Currently, Harris is touring the nation to promote her new memoir, *107 Days*, titled after the length of her short-lived presidential campaign. In the memoir, she criticizes former President Joe Biden’s decision to seek reelection, only to drop out of the race a little over three months before the November election.
Harris writes that she “was in the worst position to make the case that he should drop out” because “it would come off to him as incredibly self-serving if I advised him not to run.” She also claims Biden’s team was “hypnotized” by the mantra: “It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.” Harris adds that allowing Biden to run again was an act of “recklessness.”

The White House has dismissed the possibility of Harris’s future run. “When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should’ve taken the hint the American people don’t care about her absurd lies,” White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson told multiple outlets. “Or maybe she did take the hint and that’s why she’s continuing to air her grievances to foreign publications.”
