Rio Ferdinand reacts with 3-word message after Matheus Cunha scores his first goal for Manchester United during Brighton game

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand was delighted to see Matheus Cunha score his first goal for the club. The Brazilian star opened his account for the Red Devils in the 24th minute of their Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ferdinand expressed his excitement with a three-word message for the Manchester United star:
**”GET IN THERE CUNHAAAAAAA”**

Ferdinand was enthusiastic about Cunha’s signing in the summer, praising the former Wolverhampton player for his mentality. He also highlighted the signing of Bryan Mbuemo as a positive step in the right direction for the club.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Ferdinand said:
*”I spent a bit of time with Cunha, his character and personality suggests to me that he will embrace it [the pressure]. Very confident kid, free going, that Brazilian [mentality], ‘I’m here, I’m going to show you what I got,’ vibe, which is pleasing to see.”*

He added:
*”But again, we’ve got to have patience and see, but Mbeumo’s interested me a lot, there’s a serious side to him. There’s a professionalism there that will enhance the environment, I think, he works his balls off on and off the pitch. But off the pitch, he’s got a team he’s built around him. A nutritionist, a S&C [strength and conditioning] coach, a chef, etc., a real detailed approach to it.”*

Ferdinand continued:
*”And he’s shown he can score, he’s been here six years, he’s shown he can score goals, so those two, I think, are going to definitely add a positive streak to the club. But listen, you’ve got to wait for the games.”*

Manchester United signed Cunha and Mbuemo during the summer transfer window, along with Benjamin Sesko, to strengthen their attacking options. The trio have gradually adapted well on the pitch, helping the Red Devils move closer to the Premier League’s top four.

Ferdinand also spoke highly of Cunha’s performance in Manchester United’s recent 2-1 victory against Liverpool in the Premier League. He described the Brazilian star as “magnificent,” especially in the second half when the team needed relief and control.

On his podcast, Ferdinand said:
*”I thought Matheus Cunha was magnificent, especially in the second half when we needed someone to give us some time and relief. I just think he’s a wonderful footballer and once he gets into full flow he’s going to be almost unplayable at times. He’s got that swagger about him, I love Cunha.”*
