SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks have placed defenseman Nick Leddy on injured reserve but will welcome John Klingberg back to the lineup for their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday at SAP Center. This marks the start of a four-game homestand for the Sharks.
Leddy sustained an upper-body injury during the Sharks’ October 23 game against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. As a result, he was sidelined and unable to play in subsequent games against the New Jersey Devils and Minnesota Wild to finish the road trip. While Leddy was on the ice toward the end of the Sharks’ morning skate, head coach Ryan Warsofsky indicated that the veteran defenseman is not expected to miss much more time.
With Leddy placed on IR, the Sharks have recalled center Patrick Giles from their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. The team needed to add a center due to the unavailability of Adam Gaudette, who suffered an injury in Sunday’s 6-5 overtime victory over the Minnesota Wild, secured by Macklin Celebrini’s game-winning goal. Warsofsky noted that Gaudette, who tallied three goals and an assist in his first nine games, may miss more time than Leddy.
John Klingberg is making his return after missing the last six games due to an injury sustained in the October 14 matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes. Prior to his injury, Klingberg had contributed a goal and an assist in three games. On Tuesday, he will be paired with Mario Ferraro as the Sharks aim to secure back-to-back wins.
The Sharks’ homestand continues with games against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, and the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.
