Veteran professional wrestler Mickie James recently expressed her belief that WWE official Nick Aldis’ in-ring career is far from over. Although Aldis hasn’t competed in a match since October 2023, James remains optimistic about his future as a wrestler.
During an appearance on *Insight with Chris Van Vliet*, the former five-time WWE Women’s Champion discussed various topics, including her husband Nick Aldis and his potential return to the ring. The 46-year-old emphasized that Aldis, who currently serves as the SmackDown General Manager, still has a lot to offer as an active competitor.
“Oh, my God, yes. Oh, he’s far from done. I mean, I think if he was ever given, and I would pray for the perfect opportunity and story or whatever, but I think that if he’s ever given an opportunity to put on his boots and get out in that ring, I know it would be a dream come true for him,” James said.

Although Nick Aldis has never wrestled a match inside the WWE ring, he has an impressive track record with several other promotions. Throughout his career, Aldis has won multiple titles, including the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, and the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
Aldis joined WWE as a backstage producer in August 2023. Two months later, he was appointed SmackDown General Manager and has been portraying the on-screen authority figure since then.
### Ex-WWE Writer Believes Nick Aldis Should Be Wrestling
Wrestling veteran and former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently voiced his frustration with WWE’s handling of Nick Aldis. Speaking on the *BroDown* podcast with host Mac Davis, Russo shared that he had worked with Aldis in the past and knows how talented he is.
“Listen man, I worked with Nick Aldis. I know how freaking talented this guy is. This guy should be freaking wrestling. That alone is a joke,” Russo said.
He criticized WWE for wasting Aldis’ talent by having him perform the same role every week as the SmackDown GM. “Look how they have Nick Aldis. He does the same thing every single week. Anybody can be in that spot. Seriously. Why is Nick Aldis in that spot? You can put anybody in that spot. He’s talking to Wrestler A. Wrestler B walks in. Wrestler B challenges Wrestler A. And Nick stands there, ‘Oh, that’s a great idea.’ Every single freaking pretape, bro,” Russo added.
Only time will tell if Nick Aldis gets the chance to wrestle his first match inside the WWE ring. Fans and insiders alike are hopeful that his in-ring career is far from over.
