Facebook (META) Reality Labs lost $4.432 billion in Q3 2025

With Facebook (now known as Meta) releasing its Q3 2025 earnings results, the company also detailed its various costs and losses. Unsurprisingly, Meta Reality Labs continued to be a significant source of losses in this quarter’s financial report.

Meta Reality Labs, the VR/AR division of Meta, recorded a loss of $4.432 billion in Q3 2025. While this represents a slight improvement compared to the previous quarter’s loss of $4.5 billion in Q2 2025, it remains a substantial expense for the company. Additionally, the losses for Q3 2025 were up year-over-year compared to Q3 2024, when the segment posted $4.4 billion in losses.

Since its inception, Meta Reality Labs has consistently contributed billions in losses to Meta’s bottom line. Despite the significant financial hit, the division has arguably been ahead of the curve in innovation within the AR and VR sectors. However, so far, it has yet to generate positive financial returns for the company.

Meta continues to invest heavily in Reality Labs, signaling its commitment to building future technologies, even as the division remains a costly endeavor.
