1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 4-Speed

This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette coupe, originally purchased new from Dominick Chevrolet of Charlottesville, Virginia, underwent a full refurbishment in the early 2000s. Powered by a replacement 327ci V8 engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission, this classic Corvette features numerous desirable upgrades and retains many of its original characteristics.

Under the hood, the engine is equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a Winters aluminum intake manifold, finned aluminum valve covers, and a Comp Cams camshaft. The engine was rebuilt in 2004, including replacement pistons, bearings, and valves. Detailed camshaft specifications and rebuild records are available and shown in the gallery. The HCR suffix indicates the engine originates from a 1966 327ci V8 used in Chevrolet passenger cars. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a Positraction differential and the four-speed manual transmission.

The Corvette’s fiberglass body was originally finished in Riverside Red (paint code 923) and was refinished in White Diamond Pearl Coat in 2002. Distinctive features include flip-up headlamps, fender vents, side-exit exhaust pipes, quad tail lamps, and chrome bumperettes. The car rides on polished 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires sized 215/70.

This C2 coupe was purchased by the selling dealer in 2025 from its previous owner of 24 years. It is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a car cover, and a Pennsylvania “Antique” title. The odometer shows 43,000 miles, with approximately 50 miles added under current ownership; overall mileage is unknown.

The Corvette’s suspension was advanced for its time and remains factory-correct: fully independent with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. It is equipped with power steering and four-wheel drum brakes.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in red vinyl upholstery, reflecting the original trim tag specifications. Interior refurbishment included reupholstering the seats and replacing the carpets. Amenities include a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts. The woodgrain steering wheel frames refurbished instrumentation, and an additional spare steering wheel is included with the sale.

Decoding the trim tag reveals:

– Style: 64 837 (1964 Corvette coupe)
– Body: 3603 (St. Louis body number)
– Trim: 490AA (Red vinyl upholstery)
– Paint: 923 (Riverside Red)

This meticulously maintained and documented 1964 Corvette coupe offers a blend of classic styling, period-correct mechanical upgrades, and thoughtful restoration—making it a desirable addition for any Corvette enthusiast.
