Games Done Quick has grown significantly beyond its two biannual mainline marathons. In addition to its regular Hotfix shows, Games Done Quick has expanded its offerings to include two week-long Fatales marathons, a weekend TwitchCon marathon, and celebrations of Black speedrunners with Black in a Flash.
This weekend, for the first time, GDQ will be focusing on its LGBTQIA+ community with Games Done Queer, a weekend marathon celebrating queer runners across the gaming space. To learn more, I spoke with Rae “Raeclun” Brusky prior to the start of the event. Brusky discussed the formation of the Games Done Queer event, the inspiration behind it, the collaboration with Lambda Legal, and the important timing of this marathon weekend.
He also highlighted some of the runs to watch over the next few days and shared the excitement surrounding the weekend’s final run, which shines a spotlight on the Kaizo Mario community.
Games Done Quick is coming off some remarkable marathon successes. Most recently, the team attended TwitchCon for Games Done Quick Express and raised $31,076 for World Central Kitchen. Prior to that, the women and femmes of GDQ held Flame Fatales, raising $151,336 for the Malala Fund.
Of course, it’s also worth mentioning the mainline GDQ marathon events, with Summer Games Done Quick 2025 raising over $2.4 million for Doctors Without Borders. With such impressive growth and impact, Games Done Quick continues to be a powerful force in the gaming and charity communities.
