Rain Out, Wind In

After receiving 0.50 to 1.50 inches of rain over the last 24 hours for most areas, drier air is starting to move in from the southwest this morning. This shift will bring an end to the damp weather for most by mid-morning.

Temperatures begin near 60°F early this morning but will drop back into the low 50s as winds pick up from the west and southwest. Any breaks of sunshine will be brief, as clouds tend to fill back in fairly quickly. While a spot shower or sprinkle is possible, much of the afternoon should remain dry.

Winds will increase throughout the day, with gusts approaching 40 to 50 mph this afternoon and continuing through the overnight hours. Due to these conditions, a wind advisory has been issued. The strongest gusts are expected along the south coast and in the Worcester Hills.

With Halloween approaching, it’s a good idea to secure any outdoor decorations to prevent damage or loss. Trick-or-treat temperatures will hover near 50°F. Factoring in the breeze, it will feel quite chilly outside.

Looking ahead to the weekend, we’ll start off windy with gusts up to 40 mph through mid-morning Saturday. These gusts will decrease to 20 to 30 mph by the afternoon. Sunday will bring lighter winds, making it an ideal day for yard work or tailgating at the Patriots game.
