Drew McIntyre often struggles to secure big wins in WWE, especially when facing some of the company’s most popular stars. Wrestling veteran Bin Hamin recently shared his perspective on the reasons behind The Scottish Warrior’s recent downturn in the promotion.
It was previously revealed that Drew McIntyre is set to appear alongside Henry Cavill in the upcoming *Highlander* movie. Despite being 40 years old, the SmackDown star remains immensely popular online and is in the best shape of his career as a performer. Yet, he continues to experience difficulty winning matches in one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the United States.
Speaking on Vince Russo’s *The Brand*, Bin Hamin and Stevie Richards discussed McIntyre’s current losing streak and on-screen decline. Hamin pointed to two key factors: McIntyre’s involvement in non-wrestling projects and the fact that he gained popularity largely without WWE’s push. According to Hamin, these elements have led to WWE management not fully supporting The Scottish Warrior.
“The only thing I can think of is A) he doesn’t care because he’s got this new *Highlander* thing, even though they should get behind him and promote it. B) Don’t get over on your own outside; it’s a weird silent heat punishment. So, maybe they’re having him lose so he can go and shoot the next season already. Like something’s coming up,” Hamin explained.
A former WWE writer also weighed in on McIntyre’s booking, adding context to the situation. Once dubbed “The Chosen One,” Drew proved himself during his return under Vince McMahon’s regime, becoming a multi-time world champion. However, under Triple H’s creative leadership, McIntyre’s character has been booked in a puzzling manner. The ex-WWE writer accused Triple H of favoritism and criticized the management for mismanaging a talent of McIntyre’s caliber.
Following McIntyre’s recent second loss to Cody Rhodes, fans and insiders alike are eager to see what the future holds for the former champion.
