Jarran Reed suddenly ruled out ahead of Seahawks vs. Cardinals

Injuries have dealt another blow to the Seattle Seahawks’ defense ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been downgraded to out due to wrist and thumb injuries.

This news comes as a surprise, as Reed fully practiced every day this week and did not carry any injury designation. This will mark the first game that Reed has missed since 2023, when he was held out of a Week 18 game against the Cardinals with a knee injury.

Reed has been a key presence along the Seahawks’ defensive front during his second stint with the team. Through eight games in 2025, he has recorded 1.5 sacks and six quarterback hits, showcasing his impact on the defensive line.

Without Reed, the Seahawks will rely on Byron Murphy II, Seattle’s first-round pick in 2024, who is currently having a breakout season. Additionally, long-time rotational player Mike Morris will be expected to step up in Reed’s absence. Morris was named a captain for Sunday’s game against Arizona, reflecting the coaching staff’s confidence in his ability to elevate his performance this week.

Reed’s injury adds to a growing list of defensive absences for Seattle. Breakout cornerback Josh Jobe will miss the game due to a concussion, and starting linebacker Ernest Jones is doubtful with a knee injury he suffered last week against the Washington Commanders.

The Seahawks will need contributions from their depth players to withstand these defensive setbacks as they prepare to face the Cardinals on Sunday.
