KEWANEE, Ill. (KWQC) — Three women have been charged after an argument over the price of a pizza escalated late Wednesday morning at a local gas station.

According to Kewanee police, Nakeita Simpson, 33, of Elgin, was disputing with employees at a Cenex gas station after she realized the price of a pizza was one dollar higher than she had expected. When officers arrived on the scene, they attempted to resolve the situation by offering to pay the additional dollar to end the dispute. However, the argument continued.

The situation intensified when two other women, Kianna Simpson, 27, and Diamond Lockhart, 18, both from Kewanee, joined in the confrontation. Cenex employees requested that the women leave the premises. As officers escorted the women out, Nakeita Simpson pulled down a merchandise display near the entrance, causing damage to several items.

Police attempted to place Nakeita under arrest, but she resisted. The other two women also became combative, leading all three to resist arrest. All were subsequently arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail.

The three women face the following charges:
– Felony aggravated battery to a police officer
– Obstructing a peace officer
– Resisting a peace officer

In addition to these charges, Nakeita Simpson faces a charge of criminal damage to property valued under $500.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
