A U.S. appeals court has refused to pause a judge’s order requiring the Trump administration to fully fund November food-aid benefits for 42 million eligible Americans.
Late Sunday, a panel of the U.S. 1st Circuit Court of Appeals denied the administration’s request to continue making only partial payments during the ongoing government shutdown. This came as the administration challenges a lower court judge’s directive to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at 100%.
The ruling ensures that the full SNAP benefits will be distributed to those in need, despite the partial government shutdown.
