The Alabama Farmers Federation announced last Friday its endorsements of Sen. Gerald Allen for Senate District 21—which covers portions of Tuscaloosa and Pickens counties—and Rep. Jeana Ross for House District 27 in Marshall County.
“Sen. Allen is a faithful conservative leader for us in Montgomery,” said John Walker, president of the Tuscaloosa County Farmers Federation. “He has worked hard to represent our needs in the agricultural community and beyond.” Pickens County farmers also praised Allen’s record of conservative leadership.
“Sen. Allen is an outstanding public servant and one we can depend on to support farming issues in the Alabama Senate,” said Stewart Koon, Pickens County Farmers Federation president. “He is a true conservative leader who is accessible, dependable, and honorable.”
Sen. Allen was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994 and later to the Senate in 2010. He currently serves as chairman of the Transportation and Energy Committee.
“It is a great honor to receive the endorsement of the Farmers Federation,” said Allen. “We have the same conservative values, principles, and ideals, so we work well together to ensure agriculture is well represented in the Alabama Senate.”
Regarding Rep. Jeana Ross, John Bevel, president of the Marshall County Farmers Federation, stated, “Rep. Ross is an outstanding public servant who is conservative, accessible, and diligent in her work. She realizes the importance of farming in this community and will serve as a strong voice for us in Montgomery.”
Ross holds a Master of Arts in education leadership from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a retired educator who served 26 years in public education and was secretary of Alabama’s Department of Early Childhood Education under two governors.
“The farmers of this district are hard-working, concerned citizens, and I am honored to receive their endorsement,” said Ross. “We both believe in conservative values and good government, and I look forward to continuing my work with them to accomplish both.”
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state’s largest farm organization, with more than 360,000 member families. The Federation selects candidates using a grassroots approach, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
