‘She still doesn’t want him, but he’s also her baby’: Mom who didn’t want a cat also didn’t want the sweet stray to starve, so she starts feeding him, TNRs him, brings him in when he’s hurt, and still pretends she doesn’t love him

The problem with people who say they “don’t want cats” is that they aren’t the ones who get to choose. Cats choose their humans—that is a fact.

If a cat chooses a human who doesn’t actually want a cat, quite frankly, that becomes the human’s problem. Cats don’t just pick anyone. They choose good people—those who, on a gut level, they feel will be happy to care for them until the end of their days.

And good people cannot resist cats. Even those who don’t have a particular love for cats won’t let a cat starve if it asks for help.

This is exactly what happened here. A mom who didn’t want a cat ended up being chosen by one. She can pretend all she wants that she doesn’t want him or that she doesn’t love him more than anything in the world, but the evidence tells a different story.

The abundance of toys, cat food, and especially the cat sling carrier—all of these say otherwise.
