SALT LAKE CITY — Keyonte George made a crucial 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining in the second overtime, and Lauri Markkanen scored an impressive 47 points as the Utah Jazz defeated the Chicago Bulls 150-147 on Sunday night. This game marked the NBA’s highest-scoring contest of the season.
George finished the game with 32 points, including six during the second overtime. Isaiah Collier and Brice Sensabaugh each contributed 16 points, while Kevin Love and Svi Mykhailiuk added 10 points apiece. The Jazz secured their second win in three games after previously losing six of seven.
For the Bulls, Coby White led the scoring with 27 points. Josh Giddey recorded a triple-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists, but Chicago has now dropped five consecutive games. Nikola Vučević added 21 points, Matas Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu each scored 18, and Julian Phillips chipped in 10 points.
White’s late-game heroics included a layup with 0.2 seconds left in the first overtime to tie the score at 136. He also made two free throws with 8.4 seconds remaining in the second overtime to tie the game at 147. After George’s go-ahead 3-pointer, Vučević missed a potential tying basket at the buzzer, sealing the win for Utah.
The first overtime saw Utah leading 136-132 in the final minute, but Buzelis dunked with 27 seconds remaining, and White’s tying layup sent the game into a second overtime. The Jazz overcame an early seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to take a 102-101 lead on Sensabaugh’s 3-pointer with 9:23 remaining. Collier’s layup shortly after extended the lead to three.
The final minutes of the fourth quarter were filled with back-and-forth action, including several lead changes and seven ties. Markkanen, who scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, hit a key free throw with 19 seconds remaining to tie the game at 127.
Markkanen’s 13 points in the third quarter helped Utah cut Chicago’s nine-point halftime advantage to 98-94 entering the fourth. At halftime, the Bulls led 70-61, with both Giddey and White scoring 12 points each. Markkanen led the Jazz with 18 points in the first half.
Looking ahead, the Bulls will play at Denver on Monday night, while the Jazz visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
