Hawks rally from 22 down in 4th quarter, beat Suns 124-122 for 5th straight win

PHOENIX (AP) — Onyeka Okongwu scored 27 points as the Atlanta Hawks overcame a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter to stun the Phoenix Suns 124-122 on Sunday night. With the victory, Atlanta secured its fifth straight win and snapped Phoenix’s five-game winning streak.

The Hawks completed a perfect 4-0 run on their western road trip. Key contributions came from Nickell Alexander-Walker, who tallied 26 points for Atlanta, including making the first of two free throws with three seconds remaining. After missing the second free throw, Royce O’Neale grabbed the rebound. His shot from beyond halfcourt bounced off the rim as time expired.

Josh Johnson added 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Dyson Daniels contributed 11 points and 12 assists for Atlanta. Notably, the Hawks managed the win despite missing All-Star guard Trae Young (right knee sprain) and center Kristaps Porzingis (right knee soreness).

On the Phoenix side, Dillon Brooks led the scoring with 34 points. Devin Booker contributed 27 points, and Colin Gillespie recorded 15 points along with team highs of nine rebounds and eight assists. The Suns played without Grayson Allen (right quadriceps contusion) and Jalen Green, who will miss at least four more weeks due to a strained right hamstring.

During the game, Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher scored 15 points before leaving in the fourth quarter following an awkward fall after a dunk. He was down on the court for several minutes but was able to walk off under his own power.

The Suns trailed for most of the first half. Atlanta held a 13-point lead before Phoenix closed the half on a 21-7 run to take a 58-57 advantage into the break. Brooks scored 16 points in the third quarter, and the Suns finished the period with a 15-point run, opening up a 95-77 lead.
