Francis “Frank” Xavier McGreevy, 87, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025. He was born October 10, 1938, in Luke, Md., to the late Mary and Francis McGreevy. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy; his sisters, Agnes (Edwin), Kitty (Ken), Ann (Joe), and Margaret; his brother, Jackie; and his uncle, Bill, whom Frank always regarded as a sibling. After proudly serving in the United States Navy, Frank attended West Virginia University and later made Morgantown his lifelong home. He spent most of his career teaching in Preston County, where he found his true calling in the classroom. Teaching was not simply a job for Frank-it was his passion. A dedicated educator who held grammar in especially high regard, Frank never missed an opportunity to gently correct, guide, or encourage anyone in the proper use of language. Following his retirement, Frank continued a life of service by volunteering for several years with Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels, where he formed many meaningful connections and contributed to the well-being of his community. Frank will be remembered for his devotion to education, his quick wit, and his genuine desire to help others learn and grow. His legacy lives on in the countless students, colleagues, friends, and community members whose lives he touched. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
