Small Business Saturday, this coming weekend, is already aiming to pull customers to local gems. Officials from the SBA Massachusetts District Office are strolling through Charlestown’s Main Street highlighting the importance to Shop Small. “Now more than ever, small businesses need our support,” the SBA writes. Joy Street Founder Eliza Ferrel received an SBA 504 loan from Bay Colony Development Corporation to buy the commercial real estate that houses her small business specializing in kids clothing and toys. Today, Joy Street’s flagship shop is located on Main Street in the Charlestown. See you on Saturday. RMV warns of scam The Registry of Motor Vehicles is alerting the public to a scam currently circulating, which involves texts stating a person owes money for outstanding motor vehicle violations and that the individual should contact the RMV immediately. The RMV will never text residents looking for payment for fines or for transactions. The RMV only accepts payments in-person or on the official RMV website: www. mass. gov/RMV. Max Baker joins PR firm Max Baker, who served as chief spokesman for Josh Kraft’s mayoral campaign, has joined Boston PR firm Regan Communications as a senior account executive. Baker’s previous roles included serving as press secretary and senior spokesman for the Boston Public Schools and as a press aide and speechwriter for Senator Amy Klobuchar during her campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. “Max’s impressive background and wide knowledge of the local and national media landscape will be a great asset for our many clients,” George K. Regan Jr., the firm’s chairman, said. Baker, a Georgia native, is a graduate of Boston College.
