Andrew Cuomo tells donors he’s ‘not going anywhere’ as speculation swirls over another run

He’s not Cuo-ing away! Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo isn’t packing his bags for Florida anytime soon telling campaign donors he is sticking around as speculation swirls about another comeback attempt. “The campaign may be over, but our work is not. I’m not going anywhere,” Cuomo said in a letter to donors to his mayoral campaign and obtained by The Post citing his commitment to fighting antisemitism and improving public safety. The letter echoes a string of recent messaging by Cuomo in only the few weeks since his Nov. 4 election loss in which he’s teased the possibility of running for office again. Rumors have swirled he may be scoping out a future gubernatorial run or congressional bid. A separate open letter released by Cuomo’s team Monday sparked immediate backlash from users on X including a state senator who drew a brutal comparison between the former governor and a venereal disease. “Christ. Andrew is basically the human personification of herpes. Just because you can’t see it right this second, don’t mean he’s gone away!” railed state Sen. Gustavo Rivera (D-33). “Please, dude: just be like Hep-C so we can get rid of you already!” he added. Another user on X piled on to the hate fest. “NY DOES NOT F-KING WANT YOU! Oh my f-king GOD! What’s wrong with him?” The ex-governor sparked more speculation around his future in politics during a WABC radio cast earlier this week with fellow former Gov. David Paterson. “You can win a city as a socialist. You can’t win a state. You can’t win nationally as a socialist,” Cuomo said to Paterson, fueling the speculation around his own political future. The comments were a change of tune from his messaging following his failed June mayoral primary run against Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani when Cuomo jokingly told business leaders a Mamdani win in the general election would send him packing for the Sunshine State. “We either win or even I will move to Florida. God forbid,” he said at a Hamptons breakfast in July. Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi emphasized that the ex-governor’s July comments were all in good fun and slammed state Sen. Rivera who previously took heat for following a number of salacious social media accounts. “Last I checked Senator Rivera never got 900, 000 votes, but given his documented online interests I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew a thing or two about herpes,” he said.
