The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) is acting like a horrible son. Many fans insist that Eric Forrester (John McCook) deserves better than the smug disrespect he’s getting right now. Honestly, who does Ridge think he is?!
In what universe does Ridge think it’s OK to throw a surprise retirement party for someone who just pitched a co-designer comeback? It’s safe to say Ridge wouldn’t like it if he were in Eric’s shoes, but he never cares about anybody except himself most of the time. Ridge is a selfish character who’s always willing to be hurtful if it benefits him.
To make matters worse, many of Eric’s other loved ones agree with Ridge about forcing him out. We get that there are concerns about the stress of working and the toll it could take on Eric’s health, but isn’t all this forced retirement drama even more stressful? Designing clearly brings Eric joy, so what’s so stressful about it?
It might be different if Eric had a job that required running in burning buildings or parachuting out of airplanes. Eric simply wants to keep sketching designs, so how is that much different than the crossword puzzles Ridge would prefer to see him doing in retirement? There’s no reason Eric can’t contribute sketches and leave the rest to the others on the team.
This doesn’t have to be some scary, stressful thing, but B&B has blown it up into a major family feud. It seems like Ridge is pretending this is all about Eric’s health when it’s really about his giant ego and his need for control. Perhaps Ridge doesn’t want Eric stepping on his toes and is trying to force him out the door to make sure he doesn’t shine brighter than him.
At least Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) spoke up about the disrespect that’s being shown to Eric right now. Ridge is treating Eric like a kid who needs to be scolded instead of a father who taught him everything he knows.
This storyline is definitely making some waves on social media, so Ridge is getting some serious backlash. Ridge absolutely deserves it just like Eric deserves better than the treatment he’s getting!
