A dispute broke out between Director Avinash Kumar Agrawal and Assistant Professor Deepak Kumar Arora (Chemical Engineering) during a meeting on Wednesday morning. The disagreement escalated into heated arguments, which soon turned violent as Arora allegedly assaulted Agrawal. Both individuals sustained injuries in the incident.
SHO (Karwad) Lekhraj Siyag confirmed that both the director and the professor have filed counter-FIRs against each other, and an investigation is underway.
Registrar Ankur Gupta lodged a complaint on behalf of Director Avinash Kumar Agrawal against Assistant Professor Deepak Kumar Arora, accusing him of assault, obstructing government work, and using caste-related slurs to insult the director. The complaint states that Arora attacked Agrawal, causing an injury to his foot.
Conversely, Arora has also filed an FIR against the director and his associates, alleging wrongful confinement, obstruction of official duties, and assault.
According to sources, when staff from the director’s office tried to intervene during the altercation, Arora also assaulted an employee, injuring the person’s arm. He reportedly used caste-based slurs against the employee and threatened to eliminate him and his family.
Sources indicate that Arora’s violent outburst was triggered when the director criticized the non-performance of his department over the past five years. In response, Arora retorted by pointing out that IIT Jodhpur had not achieved significant milestones since Agrawal’s tenure as director began.
