Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40-year-old former United States Marine, has been identified as the suspect in a tragic shooting at a church in Michigan. The incident took place on Sunday when Sanford allegedly rammed his vehicle into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Grand Blanc Township before opening fire on worshippers inside. He also set the church on fire, which was later contained by emergency responders.

Sanford served in the United States Marine Corps from June 2004 to June 2008. During his service, he worked as an automotive mechanic and vehicle recovery operator.
