Veteran Bollywood actor Pankaj Kapur recently opened up about his career and personal life in an exclusive interview with SMTV. The acclaimed actor revealed that while he is “99.9% content” with his work, he experiences a slight dissatisfaction for not having been offered lead roles like some mainstream stars. Despite this, Kapur leads what he describes as a “good, middle-class life” in Mumbai.
**Career Reflection: A Humble Journey**
Pankaj Kapur candidly shared, “I lead a good, middle-class life in Bombay. I am a humble actor, not a star. I am so grateful for the abilities that I have been bestowed with. They have helped me lead a respectable life.”
He admitted that he does not earn as much as his contemporaries but attributed this to his selective approach to work. “I never took on too many projects,” he explained, emphasizing his commitment to quality over quantity.
**Contentment Over Materialism**
On the subject of wealth and lifestyle, Kapur shared, “I never wanted what others wanted. All I wanted was to be able to act, and that I did. I never wanted six cars and 12 houses. I have enough.”
He added, “I have gone with the flow. Not to say that I have been foolish and turned down work when I needed the money, because I have done work for money as well.”
**Reflecting on a Rich Career**
Looking back at his career, Kapur credited much of his success to his father, who supported his dreams of becoming an actor in Mumbai.
His impressive filmography includes critically acclaimed films such as *Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro*, *Ek Doctor Ki Maut*, *Maqbool*, and *Raakh*. He also gained immense popularity through iconic television shows like *Office Office* and *Karamchand*.
Through decades of work, Pankaj Kapur remains grounded, valuing his craft and personal satisfaction over stardom and material wealth.
