**Lucknow Police Bust Inter-State Solver Gang Using AI Tools to Create Fake IDs for IBPS Exam**
Lucknow: In a significant breakthrough, Lucknow Police have dismantled an inter-state solver gang that leveraged advanced artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Mix Grinder, Gemini AI, and Fotor to fabricate fake IDs and Aadhaar cards. The gang digitally blended faces of genuine candidates with hired solvers to facilitate impersonation during exams.
**IBPS Exam Triggers Investigation**
The investigation was initiated following a report by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) about suspicious activity during its October 5 exam. Police action commenced after detaining a candidate who was found impersonating another. This led to the subsequent arrest of 10 individuals, including the gang’s mastermind, Anand Kumar, an Assistant Manager at UP Gramin Bank stationed in Khapraura, Sambhal.
**Gang’s Earnings and Confiscations**
According to DCP South Nipun Agarwal, the gang charged ₹5.2 lakh per candidate, with ₹2 lakh going directly to Anand Kumar. During the raids, police seized laptops, mobile phones, and numerous forged documents from the accused.
**Involvement of Bank Officers and Solvers**
Further investigations uncovered the involvement of certain bank officers such as Sudhanshu Kumar from UCO Bank, along with others preparing for banking exams. These individuals exploited their knowledge of exam patterns to execute the fraud effectively.
The AI-generated images enabled the creation of highly realistic fake identity cards, allowing hired solvers to sit on behalf of candidates at various exam centers across Lucknow.
**Absconding Candidates**
Authorities are currently pursuing two absconding candidates, Yogendra Kumar and Akashdeep, believed to be linked with the gang’s operations.
The case highlights the emerging misuse of artificial intelligence technologies in exam fraud and underscores the need for heightened vigilance in examination processes.
