PM Modi in Mumbai: `India-UK partnership is trustworthy`

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a key meeting with his British counterpart, emphasized the unique synergy created by the dynamism of India and the expertise of the UK. Speaking hours after his crucial meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, PM Modi stated that the partnership between the two nations is trustworthy and driven by talent and technology, paving the way for a brighter future for both countries, according to news agency IANS.

Modi highlighted that India and the UK are natural partners, with their relationship founded on shared values such as democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. In a time marked by global instability, the growing partnership between India and the UK is becoming a key foundation for global stability and economic progress.

Praising the UK’s progress under Prime Minister Starmer’s leadership, Modi noted, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Starmer, there has been remarkable progress in the relations between India and the UK,” as reported by IANS.

Reflecting on his visit to the United Kingdom earlier in July, the Indian Prime Minister said, “During my UK visit in July, we reached an agreement on the historic Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.”

Emphasizing the significance of PM Starmer’s visit to India, Modi added, “Your visit to India just a few months after the Agreement and the largest business delegation to accompany you so far is a symbol of the new energy and broader vision that has come into the India-UK partnership,” citing IANS.

The two leaders also exchanged views on peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia regions, as well as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. On the Ukraine conflict and the situation in Gaza, India supports all efforts to restore peace through dialogue and diplomacy. “We are fully committed to enhancing maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region,” added PM Modi.

Furthermore, Modi announced a new agreement on cooperation in military training between the two countries. Under this agreement, flying instructors from the Indian Air Force will work as trainers in the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force, as detailed by IANS.
