Friday night roundup: High school football scores in Las Vegas

The top half of the four-team Open Division high school football playoffs in Nevada appears to be set heading into the final week of regular season games tonight. Defending state champion Bishop Gorman and perennial power Liberty are expected to cruise to convincing wins, solidifying the top two spots.

The remaining two playoff positions, however, are still very much in flux. Arbor View, currently sitting third in this week’s points ranking, faces a tough challenge against No. 5 Las Vegas. If Las Vegas pulls off the upset, the Wildcats would finish the season undefeated and would be strong contenders for a spot in the top four.

This scenario becomes even more likely when considering Shadow Ridge, currently ranked fourth, is projected to fall to Bishop Gorman by mercy rule with a running clock. Meanwhile, Foothill—nicknamed the Falcons—has just one league loss on the season but showed strong offense by scoring 30 points against Liberty in that defeat.

Foothill is expected to easily defeat Faith Lutheran, a school currently outside the playoff picture according to the points ranking. This outcome could add some drama heading into Sunday’s playoff bracket release.

There is a compelling case that Foothill deserves a top-four spot over Shadow Ridge. Should Shadow Ridge secure the fourth seed, they would likely face Bishop Gorman in the opening round, potentially resulting in back-to-back losses to the national powerhouse as the season closes.

It’s a lot to digest, but we will have a clearer picture after tonight’s games. Be sure to check back later for scores and updates.
